Better Breathing
At 10:00 PM tonight Amacker was doing better than she had the last few days. Her oxygen remains at 50%, but her Peep, a fancy term for the amount of pressure in her respirator, was greatly reduced (5 is the number). The nurse said they don't really go below 5, so she's out of the danger levels for that. (I'm told sustained high-pressure from a ventilator can cause problems.) By the way, the machine that goes "bing"... she's got one of those, except they don't go bing any more. Rather, they go bing when there's a problem and not when everything is as expected. It's amazing that reversing a bit in software makes for a much more pleasant experience and a far better user interface.
I don't know how much I trust the weekend night nurses as a source for any long-term care planning, but one said she heard they might work on Amacker's left arm on Wednesday. She also said they wouldn't wake her up until that was done. I'll go in tomorrow morning and ask to speak with one of the doctors. The ones with "Chief" in their titles seem especially smart... I just got a Chief in my title, and I don't feel especially smart. I'm easily distracted by shiny objects and machines that don't go bing.

There were a Host of Angels sunday today at Beanflower; Many of us..
(Sorry I dont know the long list of
the Angels names that were there.)
There was a usefull discussion about a
private message board/calendar/scheduling/php collab for us in the future. How we Perhaps at this Bullwinkle Page... And how there are different groups which will need to have mailing lists and current tasks at hand... to know the task is right.
Andrea and Ami; We picked /photographed pieces of clothing to send to the Designers for making Awesome Amacker Adaptive Clothing!/
Ami - that sounds proactive.
There was something like that when Amacker had her hysterectomy, but, obviously, to a smaller extent. Scheduling care-givers seems important. Everyone wants to help, but the care does need to be coordinated.
Richard -
It is so helpful to know exactly where her medical status lies. From your posts so far I gather:
a) Still no definitive diagnoses re: cognitive function (although no specific reason to assumde there will be problems when she awakes)
b) Still no definitive diagnoses re: neurological function (some concern about her left side, but that could be due to how badly broken her left side is).
c) BEtter and better signs wrt: her general recovery and response to the surgeries so far.
d) Earliest time they might wake her to test the above items would be Weds (tbd)
e) Visits (by me) not yet appropriate / useful - and I will wait to hear from you or Don on that.
Love and endurance to you, Dick & Alden.
Andrea
