Extubated

Just a quick post from my phone (who knew you could do that?)...

About an hour ago they removed Amacker's breathing tubes. She can't talk and has an oxygen mask on her face, but she's breathing unassisted.

More to come soon!

Hooray!!! What awesome news! Thanks also to you, Richard, for your faithful and well-written updates and for your optimism. I hope you realize how much your efforts are truly appreciated. I know I'm in good company with friends whom check this blog on a daily basis. Amacker is quite a lucky woman to have such a great brother as you and we are such fortunate people to have Amacker in our lives. Smooch! ~AMP

HOORAY!!

You have done an incredible job of keeping everyone posted on Amacker's recovery.

Three weeks ago - I followed a link provided by Neil Gaiman's page to your page...I've learned that when he points to something; you should take a look at it!

And I swear I've met her in Minnesota (or perhaps in San Fran, where I've been, briefly). I remember asking her her name - which she gave - and I replied, "Bullwinkle? Really? As a NAME?" And she patiently nodded yes.

Gotta go now - Heal on!

So Amacker is breathing on her own today. And this morning I found
a rubber chicken in the microwave. Coincidence? I think not.

YES!!!!

It's so good to hear that she is showing control, even of something as basic as breathing. It is so good to hear, and I am grateful, Richard, that you thought to notify us in the middle of what must be an intensely personal moment. I am in awe of your strength.

I'm finally getting back in the loop after a bunch of crazy-ness. And this is SUCH wonderful news. (Albeit a late response.) I know that this process is painful, but OH! the joy of it being over. Keep it up Amacker!
