Not Today

Amacker's respiratory test this morning went better than yesterday's, but not good enough to remove her breathing tubes. The plan is to try again each morning until she's ready. Each time she will gain a little strength and be a little healthier, until at last she does it all on her own.

The process for testing her is a bit complicated. At midnight they stop giving her food through the tubes. Then they slowly reduce her sedation through the wee hours of the morning. And then around 6 in the morning they reduce the settings on her breathing apparatus to almost nothing and see how she reacts. They let her try for a few minutes, and if things don't go well they turn everything back on, including the sedation.

One effect of this method was that this morning when we went to see her at 10AM, Amacker was in that distant place again. She didn't seem to focus or respond to us as much. I imagine that she is most aware early in the morning right before they give her the test, but we're not allowed to be with her then.

So we wait...

The picture is from Dad's and Amacker's trip to Paris last October.

I think this might be my favorite picture of Amacker of all time. ...yes, I know I've said that before, but I totally mean it this time! She showed me that after she got back from Paris and I grinned from ear to ear, kind of like they are in the picture.

Thanks again for the updates Richard!

a daughters love of her father, and her siblings, shows no end. She will get there. She has come so far. I am not pushing the refresh button every 2 seconds like I was before I started my new job, but it is the first thing I head for when I come home. I am so glad you're sister and dad are there with you Richard. Send them all my love.

Amacker with Eiffel! Yes!
I love running up the 115 meter staircases of tower Eiffel ...
I adore the scarves I was given from Madagascar with representation of the tower Eiffel. Hope~
We Adore Amacker... and that she walks in the places we walk after and before makes her with us.
These are cherished places.

If Amacker could come to my garden/spa and relax with the hummingbirds and rare flowers I would give up ages.

And yet, according to a spam I got from Vonage today, "amacker bullwinkle" invited me to open an account with them on some kind of special friends' deal! Will miracles never cease (yes I'm being sarcastic)?
