Song of the Day: Waiting For My Real Life To Begin

I can't imagine what is like to sit in a bed waiting to start your life up again, and especially in that semi-dream state she's in from all the chemicals flowing through the tubes.

A long time ago there was a band called Men at Work who had several hit songs including "Down Under"... you know, with the Vegemite sandwich, and "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Overkill." They were a pretty cool band, but the soul of the band was a Scottish singer/songwriter named Colin Hay.

Hay has since gone on to create some wonderful mostly acoustic stuff. I try to catch him whenever he's in San Francisco.

Anyway, as Amacker sits in the ICU waiting to go back to her life, I hope you'll take a moment to enjoy today's song of the day:

Colin Hay performing "Waiting For My Real Life To Begin"

Thanks to Mikey for the VERY Amacker picture. It's hard to imagine she'd ever get in an accident...uh...

Amacker--
Be good and do what the Doc says. As much as we "love" reading your bro's blog posts, we don't want them to go on longer than needed just because you were bored and got impatient and hurt yersef' again!!

Take it easy.
Thinking 'bout you often--
Dusty and Danger

Richard - that's ironic. When I was with her this afternoon, she said, "I'm ready to get back to normal. How soon will that be?" She is really Waiting for Her Life to re-Begin!

Amacker,

I know you don't know me at all - and I don't know you, really, except from bits of internet things and lurking on your LJ - but this time, I'll send my best wishes to you direct rather than via Richard. Chin up, take it steady, and normal will happen.

Dear Amacker

I've been reading every day. And I have been lurking... the songs Richard posts are perfect... they all make me cry ... I've missed playing them all ... Richard... this will be a great CD or playlist... maybe this could be something you can include with the blog you publish. All proceeds to the Amacker Fund.

Thank you, Richard, for all your posts... and to Amacker... YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION. Bless you!!!

Love,
Marilyn Bonita (mzzabyss)

My heart felt good wishes to all Bullwinkle's. I am Mikey Siegel's mother, Peggi. I have followed Amacker's progress from the first call that I got from Mikey, the day following "the accident". I tried to comment a few times but was unsuccessful; Computers not being my strong suit. Hopefully it will work this time. In my first try I wanted to tell you, Richard, that I knew someone that successfully had leaches put on a non-responding infection. It seems like years ago that you joked about the leaches!!!!
My husband and I were fortunate to have Amacker and her niece (your daughter or niece; they were coming from San Diego, going up north, I wish I could recall her name), stay with us for a night. Though Mikey had lived in Amackers home for more than a year, we had never had the opportunity and pleasure of meeting her. I guess I don't have to tell you she made herself right at home! It felt as if we had known her forever, I loved it. What a hoot this wonderful woman is. Of coarse anyone that is as crazy about my Mikey as she is, can only be extraordinary! I, like so many people across the world, send Amacker and all of you,the best that life has to offer. It is clear that the special Love you all share will help carry her to each new step. Clearly you are an awesome family. Thank you for all of these updates and your wonderful sense of humor. My heart is with you.

Hi Peggi, welcome! Amacker has many close friends, and thus many nieces. It wasn't my daughter, but I recall the story of her driving up with a friend's daughter.

Anyway, welcome!
