Song of the Day: America
Amacker and I were discussing the various Live Earth: Concerts for a Climate In Crisis events scheduled for Saturday, and she was lamenting that while these sort of events always have amazing artists, the sound quality is almost always rotten.
And then she got a distant grin on her face and said, "except for David Bowie doing 'America.'" I asked her if she wanted that to be the Song of the Day today, and she said, "Yes!"
And so, by request from her magnificence herself, today's Song of the Day is David Bowie performing live at the Concerts for America, just after the twin towers came down, "America".

o.k., i tried to fix my calendar entry but it still doesn't show up. there were also some other people scheduled who don't show up. so, apparently i'm not to blame for whatever "double bookings" that might occur.
All,
I gotta tell you. I am writing this with somewhat blurry vision right now.
Reading about how Amacker was requesting the song of the day brought tears to my eyes when I contrasted it with the memory of just a few weeks ago when I was hoping and praying for her to just survive brought back the tears.

Amacker, I can't wait to come down for a visit and give you a hug (gently), a kiss and a lecture or two.

B. Duke here.
I just came from an incredible day with Amacker. To see her in a condition heretofore unacknowledged, or maybe just unrealized, was incredible. She is well on her way to a remarkable recovery. Do not let the rather mundane requirements of a rigorous PT schedule dissuade you: get your asses down there NOW and behold the wonder that is our life so beautiful.
As of this evening's sunset, Ms. Amacker is available for wheelchair trips out and around the gorgeous Stanford Hospital grounds. See the fountains. See the baby ducks. See the metal artworks. Whirl the lady around as you delight in her appreciation. Who could have known it was all possible . . . in the light of Stanford?
Fuck yes, it is. Now, get to it.
Yours, in love and life,
B.D.
